Though the exact history of this magical drink isn’t known, it is suspected to have originated around 200 BC in Eastern China. The name ‘kombucha’ is supposedly derived from Dr. Kombu, a Korean physician who brought the tea to Japan as a medicine for the Emperor Inkyo.
And although the extraordinary health benefits of this fermented wonder have been known for centuries, it took until the early 21st Century for Kombucha to blow up in North America. And thank goodness for that.
